LIVE OAK, Sutter County — November 6, 2026. A local school bond vote in Live Oak Unified School District is separated by fewer than 40 votes in the posted general-election returns. Measure H has 625 Yes votes (48.49%) and 664 No (51.51%), a 39-vote No lead among 1,289 valid selections. Even if the Yes side moved narrowly above 50%, the proposal would need 55% approval under California school bond law. The results have not been certified.
What would $33.2 million support?
The official ballot wording reproduced by Ballotpedia would authorize the district to issue up to $33.2 million in bonds to build a new elementary school to address crowding and improve athletic fields and facilities for school and community use. Borrowed funds must be repaid; this is not an unrestricted gift for everyday district operations.
The estimated property-tax charge
The measure estimates an average tax levy of $56 per $100,000 of assessed property value, generating roughly $1.97 million annually while bonds are outstanding. An assessment value is not necessarily the current property sale price. The language includes annual audits, citizen oversight and restrictions against using bond proceeds for salaries.
Why this is a different electorate than Sutter Measure G
Live Oak Unified School District boundaries determine who can vote on Measure H. Sutter County’s separate Measure G sales-tax question concerns a broader countywide tax, which has a different legal approval threshold and covers additional communities. Its small 160-vote No lead cannot be applied to the school bond or vice versa.
What remains unknown
The source’s vote count does not establish the exact number of outstanding ballots for this school district. County officials still must process eligible mailed and provisional ballots and undertake the statutory canvass. California58 is reporting the currently posted preliminary figures, not calling a final result.
